The logistics operators invoice 3.550 million euros in 2011

According to the data of DBK, the volume of business of the logistics operators experienced a growth of 2,2% in 2011, slightly upper to 1,5% that registered in 2010. Said growth allowed to reach the 3.550 million euros, figure that includes the derivative income of the storage of commodities and the operations associated realised on the load stored (manipulation, transport and distribution) and excludes the turnover by services no associated to operations of storage.
The greater degree of outsourcing of the activity of storage and handling of commodities, and the extension of the logistical services loaned allowed that the market kept a tax of positive variation, in an economic stage little favourable.
The sector of feeding and drunk is the main segment of demand for the logistics operators, representing something more than the third part of the volume of business. To continuation situates the sector of electrical and electronic machinery and appliances, and the sector of automotive sector, both with participations of 17%.
The activities of storage and operations in warehouse provided in 2011 43% of the income of the logistics operators, presenting a greater dynamism that the transport of the commodities in tank.
Structure of the offer
The sector presents a tendency of increasing concentration, having registered in the last years the disappearance of diverse companies of small and average size, as well as some operations of acquisition and fusion between operators. Like this, to finals of 2011 operated some 190 companies, after registering a new descent with regard to 2010.
The five first companies of the sector gathered in 2011 a quota of conjoint market of 38%, whereas the ten first companies concentrated 54,5%. This last figure has increased around a point and half in the two last years.
Forecasts and tendencies
The sectorial turnover will register a shrinking in 2012, in parallel to the deterioration in the evolution of the economic activity. Nevertheless, in the next years will continue increasing the degree of externalización of the logistical processes by part of the business fabric Spanish. Likewise, the dynamism of the electronic trade will follow promoting the activity of the operators.
The forecasts for 2012 aim to a decreasing of the turnover of the logistics operators of around 1,5%, until the 3.500 million euros, whereas in 2013 could experience a backstitch of around 1%.
The reduction of the sales, the increase of the rivalry, the high price of the carburante and the difficulties for the obtaining of financials will motivate that new companies see forced to carry out processes of concentration and restructuring. The international expansion follows appearing like a good opportunity in the sector to face up to the weakness of the national market.
