The responsible maxima of mobility of the city councils of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao, Seville and A Coruña, as well as representatives of companies like Carrefour, Eroski or Seur, analysed the main challenges and peculiarities to which confronts this type of transport in the actuality, as well as the possible opportunities that can take advantage of to do it more sustainable.
Innovar From the management, with the incorporation of the new technologies in the processes, use types of vehicles and fuels more respectful with the environment and efficient from the energetic point of view, as well as bet by a more efficient driving presented like possible roads of improvement in this field. Measures that no only will contribute to increase the sustainability but they suppose all a source of saving for the companies.
Like this, Coen Worst, director of DeliXL —one of the distributors of foodservice more important of Holland—, ensured that the incorporation of the new technologies in the management has supposed a half saving of 8% in the real costs of the transport. By his part, the director of Operations of Conway, José Antonio Vázquez, confirmed that an efficient driver achieves savings of fuel and maintenance of vehicles of between a 5 and 10%, all time that his effort can suppose a saving in the cost of tyres, repairs by maintenance and quantity of fuel and oil employed.
For Marcel Huschebeck, director of the program Bestufs of Planung Transport Verkehr, results of the all fundamental convert the sustainability in competitive factor to tackle the increasing challenges of the urban transport of commodities. Solutions to measure, adapted for all type of customers; effectiveness and flexibility in the deliveries; solutions of alternative delivery; effective management of the reverse logistics; new solutions of computer integration advanced and the improvement in the management of stocks and preparation of requests are the keys of this ‘plan of contingency' in front of the ‘boom' of the and-commerce.
By his part, for DeliXL, the transport of commodities in the cities represents a “puzzle complex”, in the measure in that it is necessary to handle numerous restrictions and normative, keeping a high level of quality in the service, with practices that answer to the commitment with the social and environmental responsibilities and through a plan the most economic possible.
