miniTwin, new technology in safety curtains

The curtain of security miniTwin has been designed by sick optic electronic for tasks on machines where the risk analysis requires the highest possible level of protection, for example, level of Performancia 'and' in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1, or SIL3 according to IEC 61508, or in the EN62061 standard.

With resolutions of 14, 24 and 34 mm, precisely the high resolution and speed of the response time of the miniTwin allow safety distances smaller, optimizing the ergonomics at work - even with three systems connected in cascade. The height of the field of protection with the miniTwin can be from 120 to 1,200 mm. Small increases in the height of 60 mm protection offers an optimum adaptation to the needs of the machines. The range is 0 - 4 meters.

Although invisible from the outside, the design of the miniTwin sensor is completely new. One looks for in vain the sender and the receiver separately: the new Sick curtain contains elements of sender and receiver on the same computer. Symmetrically located on each element and separated by a beam of synchronization. Industry-oriented and symmetrically designed to be fixed mechanical on the rear side of the miniTwin. Electrical connection is made with a 5-pin, M12 connector. The uniformity of the miniTwin is in addition to the concept emitter/receiver, the function of connecting cascading of several teams. The miniTwin acting as the master / slave is defined by the type of cable with one or two connectors. The identical nature of the sender and the receiver, as well as the equipment master / slave, manufacturer of machines offers a high level of standardization. The number of references to manage, the cost of equipment, storage and logistics, are significantly reduced when compared with other alternatives.

Plug & play

Thanks to the different solutions for Assembly and automatic configuration, the miniTwin stands out for its ease of installation and use ("plug & play'). This has been possible because the solution's Assembly has focused on the application. The electrical connection is a standard cable of 5 legs M12, offering functions as the che-queo external contactors (EDM) and reset. The configuration takes place during the ignition cycle depending on the electrical connection automatically for EDM, and pressing in the case of the Reset button. The curtain has indicators led along its entire length as a special feature. This serves as an aid to the alignment, indicator of status and diagnosis, and provides clear indications on both sides of the sensor.
