More than 300 registered in the 18ª edition of the National Instruments Days
From his foundation in 1976,
From 38 years ago National Instruments works for cultivating the “culture of the innovation”, a firm bet that has allowed him reach levels of turnover of 1.170 million dollars (2013), a wallet of more than 35.000 customers and a staff closely of 7.100 employees in 50 countries. But this vocation to favour the innovation between the engineers and researchers also plasma in his own corporate philosophy, investing in R&D around 16% of his annual turnover and allocating stood out resources to the 14 centres of R&D that has delivered by different parts of the world.
Besides, like other big challenges of his corporate culture, National Instruments also has marked keep between the first companies with better labour climate of the world, and that any of the industries that attends with his solutions arrive to represent more than 15% of the sales of the company, in a clear sample of his constant will of diversification.
National Instruments Days 2014 in Fair of Madrid-Ifema.
In a marked world by the constant integration of systems, the software of design Labview of National Instruments has consolidated like a fundamental tool to the hour to build any application of measure or control in a time reduced. This software, combined with modular hardware and reconfigurable, allows to the researchers give solution to any need, by complex that this can result.
In his last version, the software Labview 2013 integrates the last technologies at the same time that reduces the complexity of the design from basic measures until complete platforms of test. Between other advantages, contributes a native support for the new hardware of sellers like ARM and Xilinx, including the system ‘on chip' totally programmable Xilins Zynq, used in systems of high performance. Besides, it offers greater reliability and quality for complex applications because of a group of tools of management of code, documentation and review. New tools that integrate with the process of engineering of software, including a new plugin Subversion for Viewpoint Systems.
Also has simplified the implementation of the systems for developers that wish to deliver professional applications to the users, including a new tool of Wirebird Labs. And, of course, it gives support of systems in mobile platforms for operating systems iOS and Android, allowing dashboards for control and monitoring of systems.
Labview 2013 has taken into account the feedback of the users with the inclusion of more than 100 new characteristic and improvements in the editor of Labview. Of additional form NEITHER has entered a new shop window for Labview Tools Network, an increasing community of addons of the software of Labview that recently has exceeded the 2 million downloads.
NEITHER Compact DAQ
To the time that need systems of acquisition of data increasingly intelligent, there are applications in which they require solutions that win in compacidad and in robustness. National Instruments Has wanted to give answer to this need with the presentation in the NEITHER Days of a chassis NEITHER CompactDAQ Robust Ethernet of 8 slots, the NEITHER cDAQ 9188XT. It treats of the CompactDAQ more resistant of the company, since it can use in robust surroundings with temperature of operation of -40 to 70 °C, 50 g of impact and 5 g vibration. Can configure a mechanism to proof of fail using the timer type watchdog so that the types of exits answer appropriately, and can choose go in more than 50 modules of And/S interchangeable live with conditioning of signals integrated .
Another of the fields in which National Instruments is working with greater success at present is in the development of the transceptores vectorial of signals (VSTs), which combine a vectorial analyser of signals and a vectorial generator of signals with a FPGA programmable by the user for control and processing of signals in real time. Built in base to the architecture of And/S reconfigurable (RIO) of NEITHER Labview, offers flexibility of programming and hardware of RF of avant-garde to fulfil with the applications of RF more challenging.
In this sense, the last launching of NEITHER is the vectorial transceiver of signals PXIe-5646R, with a rank of frequency of 65 MHz- 6.0 GHz, VSF&VSA with THE independent, 200 MHZ of instantaneous band, 24 lines GAVE of until 250 Mbps, FPGA accessible to the user with Labview, support for configuration MIMO, only three slots busy and support for 802.11ac 160 MHz and LTE-Advanced.
Also are stood out the evolutions been still in matter of operating systems NEITHER Real Time (controller designed by software NEITHER breed-9068- Community Linux) and the launching of the new series NEITHER USB R Series.
The assistants could know the last innovations of NEITHER.
Prizes to the best applications 2014
The NEITHER Days also received the delivery of the Prizes to the best applications 2014, for which presented 40 cases of study. The third prize carried it to him David Batet, of 6TL Engineering, by the work ‘Platform of test on line for Set Top boxes DVB-S'. The second prize was for Javier Gómez, of Eiit, by the work titled ‘Straeming of data of high speed in the communications in the space'. And the first prize was awarded to Leticia Irazola, of the University of Seville, by the work ‘Control of radiation neutrónica peripheral of patients subjected to radiotherapy'.
Practical applications
Like technological Forum on graphic design of systems, the NEITHER Days explained also with different stands in which evidenciaron practical applications with the solutions of the company. These were delivered in four big groups: acquisition of data (with a bank of essay for testar the noises, efforts and amortiguación in the sector of the automotive sector and a bank of proofs for the structure of a train of landing), test automated and RF (a simulator of signals of radar, for example), systems embebidos and monitoring (a control of investor for photovoltaic signpost, between other solutions) and what knows like ‘Vision & Motion'.
The visit completed in the Academy of National Instruments where could see one of the last more revolutionary launchings of the company: ‘MyRIO'. It treats of a tool directed especially to students that integrates hardware and software and that allows them create applications quickly in the processor in real time. It takes advantage of the configuration of FPGA predetermined, which can customise satisfied the projects go back more advanced. By means of his internal components, access to transparent software and library of resources and tutoriales, NEITHER MyRIO offers to the professors an accessible tool to teach multiple concepts of design in a device and offers to the students the technology to complete projects of design of the real world.
Technological tendencies
Shelley Gretlein, director of Marketing for Software in National Instruments, resumió later in presses conference the most stood out points of the document ‘technological Tendencies 2014' published recently by the company and in which they detail the last tendencies that help to the engineers to satisfy the demands cambiantes and to integrate the increasing power of the technology in his work. It treats of a first report and examines a series of subjects, from the systems ciberfísicos to the creation of clear-cut radios by software (rowing sports club) of instruments of RF.
Zone reserved to applications of acquisition of data.
The document ‘NEITHER Trend Watch 2014' covers the tendencies of all these areas:
- Systems ciberfísicos: Developing systems that interactúan of continuous and dynamic form with his surroundings through the attachment of computational components and physicists distributed.
- Solutions of Big Analog Dates: Connection of the infrastructures of YOU and tools of analysis, such as the cloud with systems of acquisition of data to take decisions faster on the data of proof.
- RF/Wireless: Revolutionising the wireless industry by means of the integration of a series of technologies of clear-cut radios by software in equipment of proofs of RF.
- Models of Computation: Integrating multiple methods of programming in some only surroundings to simplify the complex applications distributed and of real time.
- Mobile communication: Using mobile devices like the interfaces of user of the systems of measurement and control.
- Education STEM: Preparing to the students for the engineering with interdisciplinary methods.
Support to the customers
The session of afternoon of the NEITHER Days initiated with a summary of the different solutions that can give today NEITHER to the hour to give support to his customers, with the intention to increase the performance of his services: learning, skilled support in design, development or maintenance, replacements by calibration or repair, quality consultancy of cycle of life of the projects…
In matter of learning was significant the recognition that gave during this day to the first ‘Certified Labview Architect' in Spain, the engineer Javier Martínez, of Asoindel.
The 12 display units that were present in the NEITHER Days 2014 could show his last developments.
From National Instruments also wanted to recognise to the more than 700 partners and more than 1.000 offices delivered by all the world, that contribute to give a direct and professional attention to all the customers of NEITHER, and that they are “synonymous of confidence and guarantee of success”.
Also took advantage of the day so that some collaborators of NEITHER (6TL Engineering, Aresse Engineering and Ulma Embedded Solurtions) showed some of his last cases of success using the technologies of National Instruments.
'Are had to risk you?'
The NEITHER Days 2014 included an interesting report of Sergio García, director of R&D of Treelogic, in which it put in value the importance of the innovation to follow evolving and the risks that comport all these processes. It split of the definition of innovation realizar by L. Duncan: “the innovation is the capacity to convert ideas in bills” and described the five fundamental concepts that are associated to all innovative process. In the first place, ‘listen', that is to say be near of the customer to know his needs and know interpret them. Second, ‘explore', see what is happening to our around, know what do our competitors, to avoid that an alternative model can take us out of the market. A third concept joined to the innovation is the one of the ‘speed', measuring well the times and analysing how is going in a novelty in the market through the different typologies of customers (innovative, visionarios, pragmatic, conservative or sceptics). To continuation is important to do an optimum ‘measurement' of the profitability and of the efficiency of the process, knowing that in the majority of the occasions there is not a direct relation between what invests in R&D and what perceives the customer. And like fifth concept, Sergio García contributed the ‘fail', being indispensable the acceptance of the failure. In fact, as it aimed, 75% of the products that launch to the market finish failing. What it is necessary to do is to have mechanisms of control of risk in all the phases of the process.
The director of R&D of Trrelogic finished his conference speaking of three types of innovation: open innovation (leaves go in to third so that they contribute ideas to the process), innovation disruptiva (change a market radically) and innovation frugal (especially used in developing countries, where begins a project from zero and no like an adaptation).
