The company of management of power
Eaton Is one of the voluntary participants involved in a consortium for a period of proof of three years of the PEF for the SAIs, that began on 4 November 2013, and will help to determine and check the rules of category of the environingingmental impact of product in all the European Union (PEFCRs, Product Environingingmental Footprint Category Rules), the systems of compliance and verification and the methods of communication.
Nowadays, the companies that wish to stand out the environingingmental behaviour of his products in more than a been member of the EU confront to numerous obstacles. They have to choose between a wide range of methods and initiatives promoted by the local governments and the private enterprise, that can vary of a country to another, and can find later with the payment of multiple costs to supply the environingingmental information. Also they can confront to the distrust of the consumers, that are confused by the different information that hampers the comparison of the products.
Cyrille Brisson, vice-president of the division of quality of power of Eaton in the region EMEA, comments: “In accordance with a recent report of the Eurobarómetro, only 6% of the citizens of the EU trusts fully in the advertising of the manufacturers about the environingingmental behaviour of the products. Taking into account that the world-wide market of goods and services of low environingingmental broadcast of carbon estimated in 4,2 trillion € in 2012, with a quota of market of the companies of the EU of 21%, the proposals that are testing inside the frame of the initiative of an only market for the green ‘products' have an enormous potential to help to ensure a sustainable economy, by means of a transparent and clear offer. In Eaton are happy that have selected and recognised the industry of the SAIs for this project and our participation in the stages of proof will show our continuous commitment with the green ‘initiatives' and the respectful products with the environingingment.”
The initiative supports the international efforts in pro of a greater coordination in the methodological development and the availability of data. The methods of the environingingmental impact of product (PEF) and of the environingingmental impact of organisation (OEF) have been prepared by the Common Centre of Investigation (Joint Research Centre) of the European Commission. They are methods based in the evaluation of the cycle of life (LCA, Life Cycle Assessment), by what can cover the environingingmental impacts and signal the opportunities of improvement, from the extraction equipment equipment of raw materials until the elimination of the wastes of a product (or of a wallet of products in the case of the organisations). The credenciales of Eaton for the participation in the pilot phase of the method PEF have improved even more by the fact that it has commissioned recently an evaluation detailed of the cycle of life of his own range of SAIs, Eaton 93PM.
