Siemens recorded in 2009 more than 4,200 patents and almost 8,000 inventions

Siemens continues unstoppable innovation: the company currently has some 56,000 patents, 1,000 more than in fiscal year 2008. Siemens applied for around 4,200 patents in fiscal 2009 as a result, approximately 7,700 inventions created by 32,500 company researchers around the world. This figure is equivalent to about 35 inventions per day.
At a ceremony in Munich on 23 November, the CEO of Siemens Peter Löscher awarded the 13 most outstanding inventors of the company. The award-winning research covers very diverse fields with a camera with infrared system which enables the observation in the interiors of gas turbines, to green technology 'green ship' and a new system of diagnostic x-ray in 3D to detect cancer. 13 Inventors have a few thousand individual patents.
