The 5th day of Robotics turns into showcase of innovations in domestic robots

The Science Park of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) hosts the V Conference of Robotics which will showcase robots that perform household chores of cleaning, cutting the grass and even personal transport. The meeting, organized by the Graduate Institute of automatics and computer engineering, debate on the present and future of this type of robot. According to recent studies, cumulative sales of robots for domestic use in the world more than three million units, while the number of robots sold by way of personal entertainment reaches two million units. Looking ahead to the year 2011, will provide for some sales exceeding seven million robots for use personal-entretenimiento and nearly five million of those designed for household chores. "We are before a technological explosion that is assuming the integration of Robotics in the home and, in general, in our daily life", has tempered the Secretary of the Institute ai2 and coordinator of the Conference, Martin Mellado. In fact, the spokesman for the Institute ai2 will deliver a presentation entitled ' domestic robots: present or future?'. For its part, the researcher of the Institute of computer science, Martin Peris, will present a Conference on Robotics in Japan, based on her experience at the Centre of r & d of Toshiba. The programme will include presentations by the director of Service Robots Solutions, Josep Maria Nogués, on domestic robots and the Project Manager of MoviRobotics, Sergio Carretero, with chat 'Where are the robots?'. The day will conclude with a demonstration of equipment for Global Electronic Solutions, Internaco and Segway Valencia enterprises, distributors of domestic robots.
