The EC increases to EUR 400 million funding for research on Robotics
October 10, 2008
The European Commission will double to 400 million euros by 2010, the financial resources currently allocated to research in the whole of the European Union in the field of Robotics and automotive. The EU Executive will use part of this budget to strengthen the links between the world of the Academy and the industry in the field of Robotics and also in promoting a wider experimental programme on a large scale between Academy and industry, as explained in a statement the Commission.
While currently, one third of all industrial robots in the world are produced in Europe, the European Commission hopes that its funding would contribute to the production of essential in the field of Robotics components to enable European industry to address growing competition from Asia and also avoid potential strategic units of parts such as engines and transmission applications, among others, in other parts of the world.
