The Appe signing offers for wine bottles PET
December 3, 2010
The Appe company (formerly known as Artenius PET Packaging) has doubled the amount of PET bottles for the harvesting of wine Beaujolais Nouveau this year, according to the signature data. The total production of PET bottles of wine from Appe 2010 has increased by 45% compared to 2009. Recent orders include the of bottles of 750 and 187 ml for a South African Winery and the provision of bottles of 187 milliliters to two European airlines.
According to the company, a recent study by the consulting Wine Intelligence revealed that the PET bottle had become the alternative preferred glass for wine. APPE considers that this type of material is particularly appreciated by the low costs of transportation, the comfort and environmental benefits. For example, 750 milliliter bottle weighs 50 grams, while a bottle of glass of the same size weighing between 350 and 600 grams. From Appe explained that the PET equals the Crystal as a 100% recyclable material, and providing a lower carbon footprint even comparing it with bottles of wine of the highest possible level of recyclable glass. PET bottles mimic the design of the traditional glass in order to reinforce the sought-after wine.
