The PET segment of drinktec, in the future also at Brau Beviale

PETpoint presents first technologies and accessories for the manufacture and recycling of beverage of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles. Also the lactic poliácido (PLA) and other plastics for packaging of beverages will be represented in PETpoint. Since 2005, PETpoint is integrated in drinktec, fair world of technologies for beverage and liquid food as its own brand. The heidelberg business media GmbH (hbmedia), Heidelberg had ceded with effect from October 1, 2009 the PETpoint brand rights to the Messe München GmbH. In September of 2009, when it was held for the last time drinktec, were presented in the context of PETpoint around 120 exhibitors on an area of 11,000 m² gross. In comparison with the quotation of the year 2005, this area was an increase of 50%.
In the year 2011, PETpoint will take place for the first time in the framework of Brau Beviale from 9 to 11 November in Nuremberg. Thereafter it shall on an annual basis. In particular it means that PETpoint, with the exception of the years in which held drinktec, in which it has no place Brau Beviale, will be in Nuremberg. PETpoint will again join in 2013 drinktec in Munich, which takes place every four years. PETpoint will therefore be represented in a booth grouped in Hall 2 of the fair of Nuremberg. The premiere of PETpoint at Nuremberg Edition provides for a minimum participation of 30 exhibitors. The Organization of PETpoint, especially the planning of the pavilions, the call and the attention of exhibitors, will continue to be responsible for the team of drinktec of Messe München. PETpoint 2011 will be promoted within the framework of the call for visitors of Brau Beviale.
In a short time, PET has reached a great importance as a beverage and liquid food packaging material. Last year, were filled with worldwide more than 400 billion packaging of plastic, most of them of PET, which is one-third of all beverage containers. In Germany, for example, 77.5 per cent of all non-alcoholic beverages are filled in PET. Although work continues on the research of alternative plastics, for the moment not seen an end to the boom of PET.
