Gaiker-IK4 seeks new building materials to comply with the technical building code
As for its properties, the new code technical building (CTE) requires the production of unique structures with excellent thermal, acoustic and fire-resistant behaviour. This fact causes problems resulting from failure to comply with certain specifications of CTE.
For this reason, gaiker-ik4 technological centre is immersed in the research and development of new plastic materials for the structure, floors, ceilings and walls of the houses, which will make it possible to satisfy the requirements set by the technical building code.
Specifically, the objectives of this research are:
-Improvement in energy efficiency
-Better acoustic insulation
-Sustainable energy and environmental
-Improvement of fire behavior
These goals materialize in the following way:
(a) to improve the environmental comfort and ensure temperatures continued in the interior of the room and pleasant, Gaiker-IK4 will employ 'natural energy accumulators' through the use of molecular alloys (PCM). The project raises the incorporation of these PCM within traditional materials as synthetic and levelling mortars or structures themselves sandwich that confer on the walls and ceilings. These systems will accumulate heat from external actors, such as solar cells, forced installation in the buildings constructed from the year 2007, and assign it gradually to maintain constant temperature.
(b) on the other hand, Gaiker-IK4 worked on the design of structures made from natural sources, recycled materials (natural fibre or resin furánica), and new fire-resistant and environmentally friendly agents with the environment to meet with the European rules of behaviour to fire.
All these technological developments Gaiker-IK4 is running part of a research project related to construction materials under the title 'Development of multifunctional polymeric structures for sustainable construction', with funding from the Department of industry, trade and tourism of Basque Government within programme Saiotek.
In the research of new materials, energy savings, the increase in the life cycle of the product, materials from natural sources, the recyclability of the products, the affordable cost is valued... Ultimately, new designs of materials to promote the construction market towards a continuous evolution with regard to social and technological benefits concerns.
