Technical day on innovative solutions in the detection, control and elimination of biofilms
13 February 2013
The presence of biofilms in the industry is the main cause of the pollution of the final product. The biofilms are groupings of microorganisms adhered to the surfaces that produce polymeric substances extracelulares (SPE) that the recubren, protecting them of the adverse environingingmental conditions. The SPE confer resistance to the microorganisms and form a barrier in front of the conventional procedures of cleaning and disinfection, what hampers the elimination of the biofilm.
The present day pretends to deepen on the problematic that it can suppose the presence of biofilms in the alimentary industry, pharmaceutical and cosmetic offering the possibility to know the last technological innovations in this field.
On 27 February in Gironinginga and on 28 February in Vic, the Institute of Investigation and Technology Agroalimentàries (IRTA), iTram Hygiene and the University of Vic, with the collaboration of the Department of Agriculture of the Government of Catalonia (DAAM) and AliNyMA will celebrate in the auditssorium IRTA of Monells (Gironinginga) and in the Tower dels Frares of the Universitat of Vic (Barcelona), the day on innovative solutions in the detection, control and elimination of biofilms.
