Goodbye To the burns in the place of work
In Europe, each minute, a person suffers burns in the place of work. 50% of these produce in the sector of the metallurgy and in the industries of the feeding and chemical. “The existent products for the protection against the heat base in technologies with a lot of years. It is a sector that has experienced very little innovation, what has caused a deficit in appearances like the skill or the knowledge on how select the most suitable product”, indicated Xavier Puig in the presses conference.
Up to now, the usual to protect of the heat was to employ gloves of vulrizo or of fibres aramidas, that increased of thickness of form directly proportional to the temperature of the products that had to handle . This comported logically a loss of touch and of skill in the manipulation of these materials, in fields so diverse like the foundries, the manufacture of tyres, the welding, the injection of plastics, the setting in automotive sector or the manipulation of ceramic pieces, among others many.
In spite of these lacks the manufacturers have not loaned during the last years a special attention to the segment of the gloves of thermal sensors protection, perhaps because these only represent a small part (so only 6%) of the 490 million euros in which it is estimated the market of the synthetic gloves of protection in Europe (England, Germany, France, Spain and Italy - Source: Map Professionnel).
Map Professionnel, like company of reference in the industry of the gloves of protection, has wanted to step forward in the thermal sensors segment launching to the market a new range of intelligent “products” directed exclusively to the professionals, so that the operarios can choose the version that better adapts to his particular needs.
Applicable rule
The gloves of protection in front of the heat and the fire govern by the rule IN 407, in which it specifies the methods of essay, the exigencias general, the levels of thermal sensors efficiency and the marked of the products. This norm marks four levels of protection of agreement to the isolation that offer the glove in front of the transmission to his interior of the high temperatures (Level 1-100 °C; Level 2 – 250 °C; Level 3- 350 °C and Level 4 -500 °C). Specifically it employs the concept “thermal sensors isolation”, that indicates that they need more than 15 seconds to increase the internal temperature of the glove in 10 °C in some surroundings to temperature acclimatise and with a constant contact with the hot piece. For putting an example, a glove of level 2 allows to manipulate a piece to 250 °C during 15 seconds without that transmit to the hand an increase of temperature of 10 °C.
In any case, this norm only clarifica the level of thermal sensors isolation but does not take into account important variables like the thermal sensors resistance (capacity of a material of not to deteriorate to high temperatures), the surroundings of work (dry, moderately humid/aceitoso or humid/chemist) or the time of contact (continuous or intermittent).
Answer of Map
To give answer to these limitations of the norm IN 407, Map Professionnel account in his laboratories with a specifically designed machine to simulate the use of the gloves in real conditions, with an equivalent pressesure to sustain an element of 1 kg of weight. A thermal sensors sensor measures at all times the temperature of the glove, being able to with this create what Map Professionnel has designated “curves of contact”, some graphic that have by variables the temperature of the piece manipulated and the time of contact with this, allowing with this know clearly which is the model of glove indicated for each application.
Besides, to deepen in this idoneidad, the company also puts to disposal of the professionals another useful tool of research, the call “guides of selection”, that adds to the temperature of the element manipulated and to the time of contact, another important variable as it is the surroundings of work (dry/quite clean; mildly humid or aceitoso; or humid/chemist).
Five models
To day of today, Map Professionnel offers five models in his range of gloves for thermal sensors protection. The Temp-Dex 710 is a fine glove with anatomical form that guarantees skill in the handle of the materials. It offers a high resistance to the abrasion, what lengthens his life, and thanks to the coating of nitrile that carries, can work in surroundings moderately aceitosos. It allows to work to temperatures of until 125 °C.
The Temp-Dex Plus 720 also has a coating of nitrile and by means of a textile support to base of fibres aramidas ensures equally a high protection in front of cuttings. His interior is of cotton, what in addition to protection offers confort. His resistance to the heat of contact is of level 2.
Escalando In the range find the model Temp-Tech 725, “the classical for thermal sensors protection in dry surroundings”, that besides endows of a good protection in front of cuttings. It has a sleeve of leather to protect also the forearm.
Especially headed to the catering, the glove Temp-Cook 476 provides hygiene and protection for temperatures of until 150°C. It is 100% tight and thanks to his white colour/cream adjusts to the standards of vestimenta of the catering out of the home.
Finally, Map Professionnel offers the model Temp Tec, a very polyvalent glove of high chemical resistance (sour, dissolvent alifáticos, etc.) because of the thickness of the material employed. It presents a double layer of cotton and, thanks to the treatment antideslizante, facilitates a good hold on to the humid materials.
Map Professionnel is integrated cheese cheese inside the structure of the American group Jarden (4.000 million euros of turnover, 24.000 employees, more than one hundred marks commercialised and a half growth interanual of 20%). Specifically, Map Spontex form splits of the line of business ‘Branded consumables' of the Group Jarden. Among others attainments of Map Spontex are the be the first world-wide manufacturer of cellulose and the second world-wide producer of reusable gloves.
The aim of Map Professionnel, as it signalled Xavier Puig, is “to be leaders in the design and development of equipment of individual protection (EPI's) of high quality by means of an approach in the innovation”. For this his vision goes through to be the most next to the professionals to know his needs and develop like this products adapted to these, something that achieves thanks to a team of marketing of product of full-time to this activity.
Map Spontex account at present with eight factories delivered by the world, of which three of them are centred in the production of gloves (two in Malaysia and another in Brazil).
The company explains today in his range with more than 200 types of gloves divided by type of protection (chemical, cutting, thermal sensors, etc.) and by sector of activity (feeding, critical environingingments, etc.).
