iMat - Technological centre of the Construction and the Technological Centre Ascamm merge

Given the capacities of the iMat and Ascamm and after considering the technological and sectorial complementarities, the Patronatos of the two foundations have considered that the fusion by absorption is the most effective mechanism to give stability to the project of the iMat, and generate I + D of quality. Of this way gives answer to the business needs carrying out projects and activities more ambitious regarding his approach and impact and acting of competent form to international level.

Thanks to the integration of the capacities contributed by the iMat, from Ascamm will be able to tackle with guarantees projects of investigation in the field of the construction, clearly oriented to the industrialisation of this sector, and especially in what it calls Green Building that comports wide perspectives of growth as a result of the world. Equally the technological capacities purchased will allow to increase the activity in the field of the sustainability, the energetic efficiency and the environingingmental impact, moving it to all the industrial state.

The process will concretise jurídicamente by means of the integration of the iMat in the private Foundation Ascamm. However, it will conserve the mark iMat to tackle with guarantees the sector of the construction and improve the set up of conjoint lines of investigation that will benefit of the knowledge developed by the two centres.

In group, the resultant entity will have more than 170 researchers, a turnover of more 13 million euros, a near wallet to the 500 industrial customers and a very significant international presence. A decisive step for the resorting of the Catalan system of science and technology, that will win in efficiency to attain projects of greater risk and impact in the industrial fabric. With this fusion, the resultant centre will be in conditions to offer solutions and technological opportunities of greater scope to the companies, facilitating the competitiveness and the diversification of the same.

Initiated the fusion with the agreement of his patronatos, the executive equipment of the two centres initiate now the implementation of a common strategic plan that will have like main aims the valorisation of the technologies developed, the creation of new opportunities in the sector construction and in industrial fabric in general and the internationalisation.
