Talgo Signs the agreement of the Bird for Arabia

Talgo Has signed the agreement of the BIRD between Medina and the Mecca, in Riad, the Saudi capital, together with the integral companies of the Consortium. The adjudication of this project to the Spanish consortium supposes a conjoint amount of around 6.700 million euros. For Talgo, said agreement represents a request of 1.600 million euros, that will be able to arrive to 2.400 million euros when they execute the options.
The contest started on 1 October 2006 and, after a long route, finally on 26 October 2011 awarded to the Spanish consortium, by the excellent economic offer and technical.
The adjudication of this important project to global level supposes a milestone for the industry and the Spanish rail technology and for the strategy of internationalisation of Talgo, as well as a platform for future international biddings of projects of high speed. The train offered is the Talgo 350, of very high speed, known like ‘The Duck'. It treats of the train of high speed more sold of Spain, with 50% of quota of market of this segment and that, in our country, circulates in the runners of Madrid-Málaga, Madrid-Valencia, Madrid-Valladolid and the transversal runners of Barcelona-Málaga and Barcelona-Seville.
Have been awarded to the Spanish consortium 35 trains, with his maintenance and with a complementary option of purchase of 23 trains more. The trains will manufacture in the Plant of Álava of Talgo in Spain.
The adjudication puts of self-evident the success of the process of internationalisation initiated by Talgo in 2007 and that also has given his fruit with important agreements in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, EE UU and Russia. 83% of the new agreements received by Talgo in 2011 came from of the international market.
