That corner of my Studio
April 7, 2010
The market of industrial subcontracting between undertakings of the metal is undergoing a profound transformation. The keys of this transformation are mainly two: entry of new competitors in countries of low-cost in local markets and the slope of the credit to SMEs by financial institutions. These two variables are the SMEs of the metal, the hardest, to lower the prices to be competitive and to cut investments by lack of funding.
As a first step to survive, the logical thing is the reduction of costs of labour, with the halt of investments, resulting in a drop in service customer and, in the medium term of productivity. These measures are appropriate in a panorama in the short and medium term, but the question is that we are not talking about a crisis of activity that will last a while and then will pass. No, we are talking about a deep, sector transformation rather than anti-crisis measures, requires an adaptation by the SMEs of the metal to the new system.
One of the keys to adapt slowly but continuously to the new system of competitiveness of the sector may be looking at 'the corner of my workshop' that currently adds nothing or almost nothing to the company and begin to transform it. The rest of the workshop will follow the model of the current system, which will be gradually transformed from ugly duckling to Swan without interfering with the's 'that corner of my studio'.
'The corner of my studio' has the minimum required by the new system and which does not have the rest of the workshop:
At least one person who...
- It plans to look to the future in search of different business opportunities; niche markets that can provide prosperous business such as renewable energy, medical industry, the new cities of the entertainment, the new agriculture, future, etc.
- Specializes in one of those niche markets identified as a good opportunity, a new market.
- Find support for this new market-oriented innovation. Means of production that are not common and make us different.
- Find potential clients within that niche in a global market, outside of the tyranny of the close of the rest of the workshop customers.
- Looking for cooperation, if necessary, but with the clear understanding that such cooperation will be successful to the extent of that fagocite is not the current business of any of the aid workers.
This person, from 'the corner of my studio', following these keys, just needs time, support and credibility to go from ugly duckling to Swan and convert 'the corner of my studio' in a completely new company: competitive and prosperous in the new model of global competitiveness among SMEs of the metal.
