The Prolima project culminates with the release of a tool for calculating costs and environmental impact of machine tools
October 27, 2008
Led by AFM, Spanish Association of manufacturers machine of tool, the framed Prolima of collective research project within the 6th European framework programme, on the 'management of the life cycle of products for the construction of machine tools, competitive and environmentally efficient', has had a close to 1.5 million euro budget, and it has been developed between 2005 and 2008.
The main aim of Prolima has been the provide European SMEs that produce machine tools of means to develop them with minimal environmental impact and optimized global life cycle costs. They participated in the development of the project companies of the sector, technological centres and innovation entities belonging to different countries of the European Union as a Germany, Belgium, Spain, Finland and Holland.
In addition to AFM, the Spanish representation have integrated the companies of the sector (Soraluce, Lealde, Estarta, Launik and machine) and technology centres (Ideko and Tekniker).
After the release of a Manual of good environmental practices, as a last result of the project, at the closing meeting, on 19 September in Ideko, stands the Prolima Software. The program combines the different modules created to date such as the LCC (Life Cycle Cost) and the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) to bring to the user, mainly designer of machine tools, the ability to make combined analysis of the environmental impact and costs of their machines during their life cycle. In addition, HMI is preparing to launch a formative course of eco-design and sustainability knowledge obtained the Prolima project.
