Metrology, calibration and testing in Andalusia
Service information, metrology, calibration and test (SIMCE), constituted in the year 1999 as a permanent service of the Andalusian Institute of technology (IAT) with the support of the Directorate General of industry, energy and mines of the Department for innovation, science and enterprise, through a cooperation agreement.
Other objectives of this Division of the Andalusian Institute of technology are the identification and dissemination of projects of r & d in metrology, calibration and testing and the provision of information to the Andalusian companies on the supply of services for calibration and testing.
To achieve the General objectives, the SIMCE puts at the disposal of all interested parties a website (www.iat.es/simce) which provides support to the activities and services carried out:
- Information about the existing testing and calibration services offer.
- Attention individualized technical consultation
- Organization of the Andalusian days in metrology, calibration and testing, with the participation of Andalusian laboratories in the papers.
- Documentary Fund
- Other services: News, FAQ, support of the Administration, projects of r & d, etc.
The overall performance of this service, since its inception up to the beginning of 1999 until December 2004, can be summarized in the following data, which reflect the great insight that the SIMCE has among the Andalusian companies: more than 600 attended personalized consultations; more than 19000 visits to the website of the SIMCE; more than 6000 queries to the databases of suppliers of calibration and testing services; There have been six editions of the Andalusian days in metrology, calibration and testing, and have been held 3 meetings in collaboration with the Spanish Center of metrology.
It should be noted, in the vocation of the SIMCE in the field of promotion and development of metrology between corporate management, the publication of the book: "the management of the processes metrological." Analysis and integration of a system of management of measurements (ISO 10012: 2003) ", published by Editions AENOR in 2004."
The book represents the accumulated experience of the SIMCE in these years of continuous contact with all parties concerned in this matter.
This work, with an eminently practical character, intended to serve as a reference to those responsible for metrology function, to support them in the management of metrological processes; technical staff responsible for the operation of these processes, as well as those responsible for the systems of management, in its ongoing task of facilitating the integration and alignment of all the processes of the Organization, and thuscontribute to the improvement of the results of the performance of the global management system.
