John Deere ensures the quality of their products
Hexagon Metrology S.A. has recently completed the installation of a three-dimensional machine 7/10/5 Global model manufactured by Dea, and part of a comprehensive project in the factory of John Deere in Getafe (Madrid).
The Global Image installation has been carried out on the line for the manufacture of covers for harvesters and is complemented by an automatic system of feeding of parts and a heated cabin. The three-dimensional machine is equipped with a head PH5 and 4 TP2 probes with a specific configuration for the pieces to measure. The system works with the software of measurement PCDMIS PRO which Hexagon Metrology S.A. has added some specific software designed to the client, as well as programmes of measurement of the pieces has also developed Hexagon Metrology.
One of the most prominent is the system of transport of pallets for feeding the machine of measure for coordinates (MMC - built by the central of Hexagon Metrology in the United Kingdom) built in aluminium and through a structure of Rails ensuring repeatability in orientation and position of the pieces to measure, and supporting the efforts of loading and unloading of the robot.
The cabin that houses the MMC is heated to ensure a standard temperature and has an automatic door where enter the pieces to be measured.
This project has been developed under the "turnkey" system by Hexagon Metrology S.A. It certainly is a good example of the existing coordination between the different factories of the Hexagon Metrology group. The MMC has been manufactured in the factory of DEA in Italy, in the Hexagon Metrology UK manufactured the cabin and the transport system. In Barcelona it has coordinated and supervised all the operational, it has produced the useful of positioned parts, have designed special applications and measurement programmes, and the installation of the whole has been executed.
System General
When the piece is loaded and the robot has come out of the area of interference, the piece enters the MMC and the measurement cycle starts automatically after a period of cooling. At the end of informs through signals to the robot of the result of the measurement, based on the established tolerances.
The system produces two types of pieces that are different each other. The robot reports at the time of placing the piece in the mold of load, what kind of piece is through electrical signals.
The pieces can be controlled through two different measuring programs each. A program is a series of major levels. The other program performs a measurement of all mechanized elevations of the machine.
The system offers the results of different forms, graphic output on screen that indicates clearly the operator the real dimensions of the piece, a text output that is stored on the internal network for future reference, and output text tailored to the client for use in own statistical program, also in the customer's network.
At that time, the piece comes out of the machine and the robot is informed that the piece can be downloaded. The robot go, download the piece, which will have a destination or another depending on the outcome of the measurement.
The system is 100 per cent of the production and is connected to the system of pallets by means of electric signals. These signals arrive to stop production on the basis of the results of the measurements. It is the first such system that Hexagon Metrology S.A. installed in Spain.
