Smagua is positioned as the innovative and technological bet of the international water sector
March 18, 2010
Throughout the four days that the fair lasted, Feria de Zaragoza wards were established in the best forum to boost the sector of water and the environment. The fair brought together the most cutting-edge and innovative international companies. At the end were 1,554 exhibiting companies from 38 countries on five continents which showed a high degree of refinement in the Aragonese capital and commitment to technology, with the presence of 47 new products in all sectors that housed the Hall.
Besides the exhibition, the Hall has served as framework for the holding of many events, conferences and technical sessions of high technological level which addressed matters such as the reuse of water in the domestic and industrial environmentquality control, treatment and sludge management, savings of water resources, or the future challenges of desalination. In short, a wide range of global water reality approached from different visions collective and interdisciplinary, it counted with the collaboration of the main associations of the sector.
Another element that confirms the importance of Smagua for the promotion of foreign trade was the visit of more than 100 foreign delegations, which counted with the collaboration of Fluidex - Association, Spanish exporting equipment for manipulation of fluids-, and Amec - Spanish Association of environmental protection. These actions include the bilateral matches 'be2ween' promoted by CREA. 130 Companies from 14 countries in order to search for business and cooperation alliances participated in the programme, held on 2 and 3 March.
Desalination as a future
'The future challenges of desalting' was the central theme of the last of the technical conferences held within the framework of Smagua. Within the framework of this debate, the experts defended the construction of desaladoras plants as structural drought solution and process as a tool "both the present and the future".
Javier Carrillo, Deputy commercial Director of ITT W & WW, and Alberto Letona, commercial director of Cadagua, deepened in the technological aspects and the various alternatives relating to the stage of pretreatment in desaladoras plants and tertiary applications, as well as their application in actual cases.
In this line, the commercial director of Cadagua had an impact on the importance of carrying out processes desalination by membrane ultrafiltration. This is, as explained, a new method with which to achieve a higher quality of desalinated water. "This mechanism is more quality in the treated water than in the conventional system, which means less stops the process, less time cleaning and a substantial reduction of costs", said Alberto Letona.
In his view, try combine disinfection and filter cartridges to achieve "a greater security barrier" and greater rigour in quality. As conclusions, responsible for Cadagua pointed out that the behavior of a desalination plant depends on the origin of the catchment and the good design of pretreatment. As element of near future for this new treatment was suggested the need to unify the experience with the containment of the price.
Subsequently, Martha green, the direction of structured financing of Inima, participated in the Panel to talk about the financial structure in concessions of desalination. Green stated that "the process ends not once we have installed a plant, but that we must continue offering streams and looking for results". The expert stressed that the introduction of plants and desalination plants will be effective "we must be, as well as sustainable, financially profitable". For Marta green, the profitability of a plant is only obtained if "we are able to connect an adequate financing of a project with a good technical structuring".
