The Association of distributors of Ironmongery and DIY (ADFB) has issued a statement in which he criticizes the new code of Catalan Commerce, which entered into force on 23 August. For the ADFB, "violates explicitly free markets for entrepreneurs who want to develop their business in the autonomous community of Catalonia".
As stated in the ADFB, the Constitution provides for the use of the Spanish language in its article 3, as an official language of the State, without prejudice to the other languages, but still not these preferred to the use of Spanish. "As it seeks to this new code, putting in this way a new barrier to the development of trade, not only because of the difficulty in finding qualified personnel, but by the increase in costs involved have all documentation in two languages".
This new barrier, the ADFB stressed that we must add "the current code of management of trade retailer, which clearly violates the European services directive, where is promulgated administrative ease and freedom to provide services throughout the territory of the European Union".
For this reason, the ADFB understands that "from the Catalan public institutions, is holding back the development and implementation of entrepreneurs, both European and national, in its territory and shall implement any measures within its power to try to avoid this constant infringement of the fundamental freedoms of citizens".
ADFB represents more than 80% of the sector at the national level. Its members are Leroy Merlin, Bricor (El Corte Inglés), Bricoking, ATB, Bricorama, Akí and Bricogroup.
