The grapefruit is the fruit of a citrus tree (Citrus Decumana or Citrus Grandis) called Pampelmusa. Its shape is spherical, and measures approximately 15 cm of diameter. Its pale green bark initially and bright yellow at maturity, is thick and durable, and can be smooth or warty. Its pulp is made up of ten or twelve segments, composed numerous receptacles containing juice, slightly bitter taste at the same time. The date of collection of the grapefruit starts in October/November and its presence in the market is maintained, without interruption, until may or June.
