The OECD is to Spain as the 2nd European country with the largest number of companies using biotechnology

Spain is thus the eighth place at the international level, in regards strictly biotechnology companies. The annual growth rates (22 per cent in the last year), are higher than those of the rest of the countries around us, so stay we can aspire to positions of European leadership in the medium term.
Biotechnology is one of the five priority areas of the Ministry of science and innovation, as a platform facilitating innovation in mature sectors and one of our strengths as a country. Within the biotechnology sector, the Minister of science and innovation, Cristina Garmendia was recently published by the OECD, in which Spain is positioned as the second country in Europe after France with the largest number of companies that use biotechnology in their production processes, and the fifth country in the OECD, on a total of 764 companies.
