MARKET 36 For FERG since 1963, innovating, researching and developing new products is a constant and it is this challenge of con- tinuous innovation that allows us to be at the forefront of European manufacturers of threading tools. Through studies, laboratory tests and production tests, innovative tapping solutions adapted to the current needs of the industry have been developed: the new range of machine taps ‘HT’ ‘High Technology’ cores whose objectives are to reduce threading times, increase life of the tools and thus achieve a reduction in threading costs. These new references, are called: • W-124A threading machine taps for through holes. • W-122A threading machine taps for blind holes. Their special design makes them suitable for threading all kinds of materials: • Austenitic stainless steels, martensitic and high strength stain- less steels. • Chrome - Nickel alloys. • Construction steels and treated steels up to a resistance of 1300 N/mm2. • Cast steels with nodular graphite. FERG has developed and optimized its geometry, in order to offer the final user some important advantages: • The use of a high speed steel with high wear resistance that increases the life of the taps. • It has been designed and tested, a cutting geometry for threading different types of materials always in order to improve the wear resistance and increase its performance. • Reduction of the tool store due to its wide range of use. • The special coating of the tools improves the formation and elimination of chips. This is especially important when these threading taps are used in deep holes in materials with difficult chips extraction. • The machine tap with helical flutes for the threading blind holes, are reduced on the back of the thread to reduce friction and pre- vent breakage during the chip removal. • They allow threading at higher cutting speeds and thus improving working times. Nowadays we see how in most sectors the requirements of quality, precision, speed, performance,... increase, so that our industry is as competitive as possible and therefore the development of new pro- ducts must provide a solution to these needs. The new range of ‘HT’ machine taps is also available with internal cooling and its name is: • W-624A, threading machine taps for through holes, with radial coolant hole exit. • W-622A, threading machine taps for blind holes, with axial coo- lant hole exit. More and more the machine park of the metallurgical sector is better, more modern and able to work in superior conditions and requirements. Therefore, the use the machine taps with internal cooling is acquiring greater importance because of the many advan- tages it brings to the threading process. Most thread breaks occur due to the difficulty in extracting outside of the hole the chips produced during threading process. The tap models W-624A and W-622A with internal cooling, allow the high- pressure coolant to reach the cutting area in order to guarantee: the correct cooling, lubrication and facilitate the chips extraction towards the outside. The threading operation with the new work systems, is no longer an operation that was made only at the end of the manufacturing process to be fully integrated throughout the machining process. Currently, very suitable and optimized processes cannot be concei- ved for some tools and not for others because the final result is a process with deficiencies and a higher productive cost. For this reason, in the production centers that are equipped with the newest Machine-Tool equipment, it is increasingly important that all operations and tools are adequate and optimized for the piece manufacture. With this goal and in accordance with our trajectory, FERG offers day to day to the clients all our technical and human support.
