From the Editor Don’t miss your train! The freight railway service connecting the central Chinese pro- vince of Henan with Luxembourg will start operating in 2016, as announced by the Zhengzhou International Development and Construction Company. Trains will leave from Xinjiang, to the northeast of China, an autonomous region, and through the Alataw Pass, to run across Kazak tan,Azerbaijan,Armenia,Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Austria and Germany before reaching Luxembourg. The goal is to cover as many SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Or- ganization) member states as possible, including China, Russia, Kazak tan, Kirgizstan,Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan are observers while Byelorussia,Tur- key and Sri Lanka are dialogue partners. The first stage of the ChineseYuan diplomacy policies were res- tricted to the Asia-Pacific region, though they aim to gain sup- port from the West. Following the visit of President Xi Jinping to London from October 19th to 23rd, a new “golden era” of China-UK relations is to begin, with both countries seeking to promote the use of theYuan as the world trade currency. Beijing wants its currency to become the world’s currency in state treasures, though it will be a long way until this is finally attained. London and its financial district regards business as not just fo- cused on the US and the EU, for new economics and geo-po- litics lend China a major role. This is why the UK finds new business and investment opportunities in Beijing, beyond the usual lines that link it to Washington. The new railway will promote e-commerce among different countries, involving various goods: textiles, mechanic equipment, electronics, etc. This moves us to ask, of course, what the freight train will carry on its way back to Henan. It cannot go empty as it will go through Northern and Central Europe. It is an opportunity to speed up delivery terms for companies exporting to China, and also for those with factories in that country.Without a doubt, the railway initiative is a good way of promoting trade, selling and buying products with an added value.
