chnical Textiles 26/Te 58 Innovative Ultimate Lea Multi+ 310 by Lauffenmühle Ultimate Lea Multi+ 310 is the new fabric within the Ultimate product line. It is a twill 3/1S weave weighing 310 g/m2. As its blend composition is 55/41/4% PPAN/CO/CF, it covers a multitude of risks when working in dangerous surroundings demanding multifunctional protection. Lea Multi+ 310 offers not only reliable protection from heat and flames, for use in welding and related activities, and against thermal hazards caused by electric arc and it’s electrostatic properties, but also the option of being delivered in hi-vis version, and fit up to protect against liquid chemicals. This innovation by German producer Lauffenmühle was especially developed for use in the petrochemical sector, public utility companies and government agencies, and is also suitable for the automotive industry and, of course, all types of heavy industries. The new product meets all relevant current European standards for optimal workplace safety and is certified according to Oeko- Tex® Standard 100. Workwear needs to protect workers and employees against any number of hazards, and Lauffenmühle has products for each sector. Hi Vis protection Among other recent developments in the Warntec product line, Lauffenmühle also introduced Warntec DL, the Hi-Vis fabric with an excellent insulation factor and optimized colour fastness. Constructed as a double-layer fabric with a total weight of 360 g/m2 it offers a very good sandwich- type isolation. The visual safety that is effective even from afar is ensured not only by the high luminous factor of the Warntec orange colour, but also by very good light fastness. It complies with EN 471 standards. In addition, Warntec TF Hi-Vis fabric made in a blend with Tencel-fibre offers excellent wearer comfort which even improves after several washes. Excellent moisture management due to Tencel-fibre, combined with a smooth feel allows for comfort even during intense activity. This product complies with EN 471 standards and will be available in three hi-vis colours red, yellow and orange. Antistatic protection Startec Carbon 150 is the German manufacturer’s lightweight antistatic fabric for protection against short-circuits, especially suitable when working with very sensible electronic components. It is Lauffenmühle’s response to the demand for antistatic fabrics to be used for shirts and blouses. Food Business In terms of fabrics meeting DIN 10524 standards for Food Hygiene – Workwear in the food processing sector, the 65/35% PES/CO blend of Basalt+ weighing 245 g/m2 avoids negative effects on food articles caused by unsuitable workwear. Gneis, weighing 215 g/m2 is a typical fabric for lighterweight smocks and overalls, also meeting DIN 10524 requirements. Chemical protection To meet performance requirements for chemical protective clothing offering limited protective performance against liquid chemicals (Type 6 and Type PB [6] equipment) for typical applications as in the chemical or food industry sectors, Lauffenmühle now offers Admiral E39, weighing 260 g/m2. With its special finish it is the ideal fabric for producing smocks and overalls, typically needed in those industries. Diseases Vectors, defined as “disease transmitting animals”, are a hazard when working outdoors, as most of the serious fever- related diseases in humans are triggered off by micro-organisms transmitted by insects. Vectors such as flies can carry on their legs a large number of microorganisms, which cause diseases (among them, typhus, dysentery, cholera or trachoma, which is worldwide the most frequent cause of blindness). Vectors also spread bacteria, viruses or parasites by stinging or biting. The new fabric developed by Lauffenmühle now helps to reduce mosquito bites and protects against other unwelcome guests, such as ticks. The new Lauffenmühle fabric, a 95/5% CO/PES blend, meets Technical Supply Specifications TL 8305-0331 (BWB, for NATO army use) and the textile garments made from it are permanently effective against all blood-sucking arthropods. Certified testing results of this latest development by Lauffenmühle confirm good protection even after 50 washing cycles according to EN ISO 15797, at 75°C). Also protecting against dir t and stains The multifunctional Ultra LSR fabric offers a soil repellent finish combined with an excellent stain repellent effect. LSR stands for Lauffenmühle Soil Release, and behind that name there is soil-repellency and simultaneous efficient removal of dirt which ended up underneath the repellent ‘skin’ of the fabric, from industrially washed clothing. Technical performance includes extraordinary dimension stability, abrasion resistance and moisture management. With Ultra LSR soil repellency is a welcome added value.
