The editor’s view If a brand or trademark is not into social networks, it’s as if it didn’t exist Social networks do not mean your company is going to sell better or more, but your brand image is sure to be seen, and it will cost you nothing. No money is necessary to have your brand on Facebook, and you may also have lots of Twitter fans, but there’s some effort to be made on your part. To being with, if a company has a website, it can reproduce it partially on Facebook, including its logotype, website address, photo gallery of facilities or new products. Then, you need to link the website to the social network page, by means of the “follow us on Facebook” icon. But what does require some more time is updating the sites. Every day, you need to spend just a few minutes adding friends or fans, replying messages, inviting them to visit the website, telling them about promotions, with creative ideas that give place to comments, involving them personally and presenting products that invite them to say “I like it”, or whatever your imagination tells us because there are endless possibilities. It is all about being creative, about inventing groups or common causes, of sharing interests, and much more. Today, many companies have one dedicated employee, exclusively in charge of social networks. Food for thought... Facebook is like having another website that takes visitors to our original site. But it has a personality of its own. An attractive layout and some creativity will be like one more shop window where people can see our products, our brand. Even though social networks are not for placing orders, so sales are indirect, it is not an overstatement to say that if your name or brand are not shown and seen on social networks, it is as if you did not exist.
