GoreTM PyradTM fabric Flame-retardant, thermo-resistant, a smart barrier protecting against temperature changes The petrochemical, oil and gas fields are sectors in which companies need to equip workers with clothes that will protect them against both the elements (wind, rain, low temperatures) and possible hazards like heat or flames. In general, flame-retardant and thermo- resistant clothes are big, heavy, and the more so when soaked if it rains. However, the new Gore® PyradTM technology has make great progress in the production of thermo-resistant, flame-retardant clothes that meet regulations and standards while allowing workers to feel comfortable, as never before. Though extremely light in weight, these clothes will effectively protect against flames, and ensure thermal stability. More and more companies in these industry sectors rely on protective Gore- TexTM with PyradTM technology workwear, mostly those located in Norway, the Benelux and Spain. A barrier protecting against burns GoreTM PyradTM is a leading technology combining flame-retardant and thermo-resistant protection with the comfort of light, durable fabrics like polyester or polyamide. If the fabric is suddenly exposed to heat or flames, the outside will turn into a carbonized layer, stable, and protecting against the fire, thus preserving the integrity of the fabric and seams even when in motion. GoreTM PyradTM protective clothes will act as a barrier against the elements. Light in weight, permanently waterproof and windproof, the fabric remains highly breathable at all times. Properties are not affected by multiple industrial washing cycles (60°C). Self-extinguishing Tests consistent with ISO 15025 standards and requirements confirm the stability of Gore-TexTM with GoreTM PyradTM technology fabrics. If exposed to flames at a 90° angle for 10 seconds, as soon as the flame is no longer in contact with the fabric, it will cool and protect because the outside layer is self- extinguishing as GoreTM PyradTM avoids propagation. The fabric is not affected, punctured or penetrated by flames, nor are the seams. When examining it after the text, the Gore-TexTM membrane is still intact. Gore-TexTM with GoreTM PyradTM technology protective workwear is classified as Category 2 in accordance to ISO 11612 standards, also complying with EN 13034 requirements and criteria in terms of protection against chemicals and uncontrolled electrostatic hazards. The outside polyester layer allows for dyeing, including reflective yellow and orange, which means an additional protective factor in the oil and gas industry sectors. 81
