The problem of shoe slippage on icy surfaces has always been approached by adding metal supports to the footwear. This is a solution that, while providing excellent grip, is also rather impractical, not to mention the fact that it damages surfaces it comes into contact with and is doomed to a short lifespan due to the deterioration of the material. Vibram Polarice Grip Pro addresses the slippage problem that involves Vibram rubber alone, without the need to add external accessories to the shoes. The technology is built around a special blend of different polymer bases that allow for levels of sole grip that can only be compared against systems that add metal accessories. Unlike the metal solutions, which are sure to deteriorate with time, Polarice Grip PRO offers outstanding durability and is also scratchproof and does not damage indoor flooring nor absorb liquids and dirt, all the while maintaining excellent grip and great traction on icy surfaces. This technology provides the best performance possible when the design of the sole features wide contact areas with the ground and rubber lugs with wider support surfaces. Combined with the Vibram TC 4+ compound, it is perfect for increasing the safety of the soles and shoes in extreme working conditions, at very low temperatures and on icy surfaces (especially on wet ice). Ironclad protection gloves Vibram, in partnership with Ironclad, will be launching the Ironclad Industrial Impact Glove line. “The combination of Ironclad’s impact protection technology and Vibram’s gripping rubber will revolutionize hand protection for industrial workers”, states Eric Jaeger, vice president of research and development at Ironclad. As a part of its Industrial Impact Glove line, Ironclad will introduce eight styles incorporating Vibram technology. All of the gloves feature an impermeable rubber palm with Vibram’s legendary grip. In independent durability and performance tests, Ironclad’s new glove line achieved 900 percent more grip and abrasion resistance over leading products. The Industrial Impact Glove line will debut with a series of application-specific palms including a high-grip palm for mud and oil based environments, a high dexterity palm, a waterproof and fluid dispersing palm, and a complete fire/electric arc resistant glove with a fire-resistant rubber palm. 83
