Ergonomic harnesses Petzl Easyfit, no option for error The term ergonomics comes from a Greek word and refers to the study of biological and technological data that allow adaptation between man and machines or objects. Therefore this definition should always be present during the harnesses’ design process, being attentive to details concerning both the morphology and the aspects regarding purely to its functionality. An operator who occasionally uses this type of PPE feels often overwhelmed by the infinite loop of tapes and buckles drawn from a bag. It is a moment that creates uncertainty and that can lead to a general failure of the fall arrest system, since if the body gripping element is not working properly the rest of the components will never work with the maximum effectiveness. This fatal risk can be avoided with simple measures Petzl has synthesized through the Easyfit concept, which bears the stamp of the French company. The Easyfit design seeks simplicity and functionality to make this range of harnesses is quick and easy to wear, which minimizes, on the other hand, the possibility of errors. For this, the configuration is based on a vest (1) leaving no doubt about which one is the first step for putting it on. After, the automatic FAST (2) buckles invite to placing the legs intuitively. Moreover, the fast front buckle (3) allows no doubt that it must be properly closed. Just 30 seconds is the time to put on and operate a harness with Easyfit design, a really interesting option for those who are not laymen in fall protection systems. Easyfit and the broad catalog of Petzl solutions are on exhibition at A+A (Hall 06 / F43). Among the assortment we highlight also the belay devices- descenders, family product which has recently incorporated the new reference Universo. The system combines a Verso and an Attache 3D held in optimal position by a sliding connection piece, which also limits the risk of dropping the belay device during rope maneuvers. This complete and lightweight belay system is particularly comfortable and efficient to use on all rope diameters.
