3oTrimestre14 | PROTECCIÓN LABORAL 80 Updated Products Industrial Supplied Air Respirator PremAire Combination MSA is proud to announce the introduc- tion of the new PremAire family of Indus- trial Supplied Air Respirators. The globally approved PremAire Combination, a hip- mounted Supplied Air Respirator (SAR) with compressed air cylinder and applica- tion specific configurations, enhances MSA’s Industrial SAR solutions portfolio in the oil, gas and chemical industries. The core component of the PremAire Com- bination is the unique combination valve design. It combines the first stage pressure reducer, the cylinder valve and the cylin- der gauge within one assembly, creating a very small size and profile that is less like- ly to snag when working in confined space. A hard cover for this assembly ensures additional protection and easy handling of the air cylinder. The belt and shoulder harness assembly provides increased comfort and ergonomics for long duration jobs while at the same time allowing the repositioning of the air cylin- der from the right hip to the left hip or any other comfortable position without the need to doff the whole device. The holster carrier secures the air cylinder while allowing easy and fast detaching or attaching of the cylinder to provide high maneuverability in tight places. Depending on the type of application or approvals requested, four different configu- rations can be ordered: PremAire Combi- nation Escape (EN 402), PremAire Combi- nation Airline/ Escape (EN 14593-1, EN 402), PremAire Combination Airline/SCBA (EN 14593-1, EN 137) and PremAire Com- bination Mini (EN137 – Type I). Its versatile configurations and unique features make the PremAire Combination the ideal choice for demanding industrial airline applications. MSA’s first centennial On June 14, 2014, MSA Safety Inc., a Pittsburgh based company that has liter- ally saved thousands, if not millions, of lives around the world, celebrated its 100th anniversary. The company’s impact on the world began with the dramatic reduction in U.S. mining fatalities thanks to the devel- opment of the ‘flameless’ Edison Electric Miners Cap Lamp, which MSA intro- duced and sold beginning in 1915. MSA continued with the design and manufac- turing of a broad range of safety prod- ucts protecting all those in danger, both in civilian and military activities. The company contributed significantly to protection in World Wars: during WW I, MSA developed a self-contained breath- ing apparatus (SCBA). Also, during WW II, the company developed what is believed to be the world’s first SCUBA device as part of the preparation for the D-Day invasion.
