1oTrimestre13 | PROTECCIÓN LABORAL 74 Technical fabrics Dyntex, cut protection in harsh environments Dyntex®, revolutionary development of the Spanish gloves manufacturer Tomás Bodero, is a synthetic fabric of high density polyethylene (HDPE) with a cut resis- tance above level 5 (maximum level as per EN 388). Dyntex is a guardian of the hands in multiple ruthless environments with cutting risks. In this regard, company sources state that “Dyntex fabric is constantly evolving, so that each new version improves the previous one, and we get a fabric that is thinner, sof- ter and visual better looking. We have rea- ched the sixth Dyntex fabric generation, developing significant improvements in each one”. Dragon Gloves, protective instinct Since its beginning, DG is distinguished by its dazzling commercial penetration in the protection market at its highest level. This has been achieved thanks to two basic pillars for the trademark, as are quality and innovation. In 1999, due to collaboration with the Ert- zaintza, one of the most demanding Euro- pean polices and at the forefront in equip- ment, Tomás Bodero starts making a cut resistant glove specifically for police forces. Based on this glove, the company, specia- lized until that moment in the manufac- ture of industrial gloves, begins to deve- lop a new range to cover most of the risks that police, security forces, fire brigades... are exposed to daily. That is to say, gloves for those who are always in direct con- tact with the hazard. This way Dragon Gloves was born, creating in a few years the most comprehensive collection of safety gloves for police, military and emergency, getting to be the glove sup- plier for the Policía Nacional, Mossos d’Esquadra, Guardia Urbana de Barcelo- na, Bombers de la Generalitat ... and a long list of public corporations. “Due to the specific needs of the product and above all of their users and activity, our priority is the selection of suppliers and materials. We have only providers internationally ranked as ‘Triple A’. This ensures a high level of our final products and total reliability. Also, our levels of demand with respect to finishing, making up and presentation of the pro- duct are extremely high in accordance to the level of the raw materials employed”, a company’s representative says. Dyntex fabric is used in the lining of the gloves allowing a perfect fit to the hands, plus a complete protection. One of its most popular applications is the manufacture of cut protection gloves for policemen. Dyntex, new cut protection (level 5) fabric by Tomás Bodero Due to the Research, Development and Inno- vation (R + D + i) policies of Tomás Bodero and their partners, the company developed in 2006 the Dyntex fabric, a revolutionary innovation used to make up the linings of various safety gloves models belonging to the Dragon Gloves collection. The flexibility of the fabric, prompted by its minimal thickness because of its high intrin- sic resistance, improves the glove making process. Traditionally, cut protection gloves are based on the superposition of two diffe- rent gloves (the lining and the casing), which creates faulty adjustment between both parts and the consequent loss of effi- ciency and comfort of the glove. The ductile Dyntex fabric makes it possible to create a liner which perfectly fits the outer glove, allo- wing a perfect matching between the two parts (casing and liner) and avoiding the comfort problems of the traditional overlay method. Dyntex fabric, made of polyethylene synt- hetic fibers, provides a cut protection level vastly superior to 5 (maximum level speci- fied in the EN 388) while offering the grea- test resistance with minimum weight. This cut off level has been officially certified by the Instituto Tecnológico Textil AITEX. Weight for weight, the fibers of which the Dyntex has been made are 15 times stron- ger than steel and 3 times stronger than aramid fibers. Dyntex, which offers maximum comfort and permits making the linings of the gloves to the exact needed size, is an innovative solution that allows developing extremely comfortable gloves with maximum protec- tion against cuts (surpassing standardized values). Moreover, technological evolution of Dyntex has not stopped since its inception. 77
