Updated products PROTECCIÓN LABORAL 74 | 1oTrimestre13 Mafepe: gloves and garments certified for demanding users 18 Every day the requirements and level that we demand to PPE are increasing to protect ourselves against risks that were previously considered only as general risks, but that every day are more specific within the same activity and workplace. In its relentless improvement of R & D + I, Mafepe analyzes, assesses and implements applications and concepts that enhance the gloves or clothing, providing improvements in protection and manufacturing that differentiate themselves from other products in the market. Mafepe improves leather gloves and techni- cal gloves by protecting critical areas, prone to breakage due to wear and work. It also offers the possibility to change glove by glove (without having to replace the complete pair). This is a concept that provides opti- mization and profitability without compro- mising the function of protection. “We offer it as the best savings reasoning for all kind of activities”, the spokesman says. Regarding the optimization of the garments, Mafepe points out that this is achieved “ana- lyzing the composition, weight, design, clothing, etc., resulting in the certification of the PPE by a CE accredited Agency”. The company also draws the attention to the fact that “by itself, the certification of PPE whose trials have been made to the ‘fabric or materials’ from what they were made of is not valid. The certifica- tion –they emphasize- covers the requirements referenced in the Stan- dards”. Flame-retardant and fire-resistant clothing Mafepe provides flame-retardant and fire- resistant clothing with finishing and against burning risk from electric arc (certified in Category III, Class 2) according to stan- dards: UNE EN 340 (General requirements), UNE EN ISO 11611 (welding protective clothing and related processes), UNE EN ISO 11612 (protective clothing against heat and flame), IEC 61482-1-2 (protective clothing against electric arc burns and plasma gen- erated by molten metals as aluminum and copper. Burns protection as Stoll curve (equivalent to American Standard ASTM F1959 / fl 959M-06a. The fabric 100% cotton and 290 g/m2 with specific finishing, well polymerized, provides high fire retardant and heat and flame retardant performances to the end of the useful life of the garment due to wear and washing. They are recommended for activi- ties such as ferro-metal, welding and related activities, shipbuilding, steel structures assemblies, foundries, etc. Permanent antistatic and fire resistant clothing The Mafepe’s variety of solutions also includes certified clothes with permanent antistatic properties and fire resistant (treat- ed fabric and against burning risks due to electric arcing (Class III, Class 2). They meet all CE standards listed above, plus the corre- sponding to the permanent antistatic prop- erty (UNE EN 1149-3) as well as the one for risk of electrostatic charges (UNE EN 1149- 5). Garments that meet this latest certifica- tion dissipate static charges by induction, besides repelling liquids. The permanent antistatic property is provided by the con- tent of 2% of carbon yarn well-weft for being inherent to the fabric; the remaining 98% is cotton. It is recommended for petrochemical activities, extractions, electronics, and high voltage. Permanent antistatic and fire resistant clothing The portfolio of Mafepe also includes gar- ments with antistatic and flame retardant certified features. Both properties, which are intrinsic to the composition of the fabric itself, are permanent. The composition of this fabric “Tempting” is 55% of modacrylic fire resistant and permanent flame retar- dant fibre, 38% of cotton, 5% of polyamide as well as 2% of carbon fibre, which confers permanent antistatic properties. Weighing 250 g/m2, this fabric is breathable and repels liquids, being recommended for use in activities such as petrochemicals, extrac- tion, transportation, electronics, high volt- age, etc. DEFINITION OF THE STANDARDS FULFILLED BY MAFEPE’S CLOTHING EN ISO 11612 – Protective clothing against heat and flame A Flammability B Convective heat C Radiant heat D Aluminum molten splashes E Molten iron splashes F Contact heat To certify by this standard, two tests must be surpassed at least, being that of flam- mability compulsory EN 1149-3 EN 1149-5 - Electrostatic properties. Part 3: Test methods for determining the charge dis- sipation. Part 5: Perfor- mance requirements for material and design. EN ISO 11611 - Protective clothing used for soldering and related processes. EN 61482-1-2 – Protective clothing against thermal hazards from electric arcing. Part. 1-2: Test methods. Method 2: Determining the kind of protection against arc for the materials and clothing by means of a direct- ed and constrained arc (box test). CLASS1 4 kA CLASS2 7 kA This standard is in CAT III, because refers to deadly or non-reversible hazards. Depending on the intensity of the electrical arcing used in the test, we’ll have CLASS 1 or CLASS 2. PARA MÁS INFORMACIÓN, CONTACTE CON: comercial@prensa-tecnica.com
