The traditional heavy and cumber- some textile insulation layer that protected the wearer against extreme temperatures has been replaced by a system of tiny sili- con spacers applied to the Gore-Tex mem- brane to form a protective cushion of air between the membrane and the thin lin- ing. Despite the fact that fire brigades not only have very different requirements but also work in very different climate zones, Gore-Tex firefighter protective clothing with Airlock Spacer Technology has made an impression by providing its wearers with increased heat stress relief, a high level of comfort and enhanced mobility. At the same time it offers everything you've grown to expect from the Gore-Tex mem- brane, like being waterproof and breath- able. Prototype with new ergonomic and stylish appearance Now Gore is presenting a prototype in which this successful technology is now being employed to bring about a dramatic change in firefighter protective clothing from the standpoint of ergonomics and functionality. The prototype comprises a jacket and trousers. The design concept embraces a series of new approaches using certifiable materials to create a stylish, modern appearance and optimum fit. The dark grey jacket and trousers are made of a 3-layer Gore-Tex laminate equipped with Airlock Spacer Technology. They have distinctive hydrophobic, flame resistant contrast seams for a striking appearance. Furthermore, both the jacket and the trousers benefit from an ergonom- ic design – in particular achieved through pre-shaped sleeves and trouser legs – offer- ing the wearer a better fit and maximum ease of movement. In addition, the areas which are typically exposed to high abra- sion such as the hems of the trouser legs, the knees and the back of the jacket etc., are reinforced with abrasion resistant material. The jacket is fitted with multiple pockets to hold a variety of tools and other necessities such as mobile phones. The two angled bel- low pockets have a top and side opening to enable quick and easy access. The sides of the pockets are equipped with a special elastic tape to ensure that they keep their shape and do not stick out. They are also equipped with special drainage openings so that water cannot collect inside them. Another distinguishing feature is the intri- cate piped edge construction of the pocket flaps, which is almost reminiscent of the jacket pockets of a menswear collection. The two smaller breast pockets are perfect for mobile phones and are also equipped with elastic tape. The sleeves have Velcro fastenings to adjust the width. The round- ed edges of the Velcro straps, which are divided into two sections, are particularly noteworthy from a design point of view. The jacket has a waterproof, flame retar- dant, double flap front closure equipped with reflective grip flaps which make the jacket even easier to open. Another inter- esting feature of this front closure is the flame-retardant emergency zipper: a yel- low marking on the zipper indicates where firefighters can rip open the zipper for quick removal in emergency situations. The waterproof Napoleon pocket hidden under the double flap construction is also a noteworthy design feature. The collar of the jacket is equipped with a neck flap made of a flame resistant Wind- stopper material backed with Airlock material. A special piping construction that is often found in leisurewear jackets has been used for the edge of the collar, making it much more comfortable to wear. The firefighter trousers are also made of a 3-layer Gore-Tex laminate equipped with Airlock Spacer Technology and have pre- shaped trouser legs for enhanced freedom of movement. Knee protectors can easily be inserted into the double knee pockets integrated into the knee area of the trousers. The trousers have full length zip- pers on the outside for rapid donning and doffing. The seams on the inside of the trouser legs have been moved back approx. 2 cm for less friction. The back bib of the trousers provides com- fortable back protection and is made of elastic, flame resistant Windstopper mater- ial. The adjustable trouser brace fasten- ings are positioned on the outside of the trousers so that they do not rub against the wearer’s skin. The waistband of the fire- fighter trousers is also adjustable by means of a Velcro construction. PARA MÁS INFORMACIÓN, CONTACTE CON: comercial@prensa-tecnica.com
