Competing for excellence To promote the techniques of vertical work a competition has been set up. The action proposed is composed of two tests that par- ticipants must overcome. The first one con- sists of maneuvering up and down through ropes, changing the line and pass- ing obstacles. The second one must face the rescue of a casualty in suspension. Mainly, security in the execution will be privileged over the skill, speed and expertise of the participants. The best participants in the implementa- tion of these maneuvers will receive differ- ent prizes, for which there are relevant sponsors linked to the activity of vertical works. Anetva is also contributing in the prizes and the sponsorship of this event, directly and through its partners, who have made a huge effort in sponsoring and assisting in the organization, develop- ment and control of the competition. Parallel to the celebration of this first meet- ing, Anetva is taking part as an exhibitor at the show, located in hall 4, stand number 4E18, where it offers visitors information about the general aspects of the vertical work, legislation, prevention, safety ... as well as on the training and the different courses that have been established in accor- dance with the instructional procedures which the Association has established. Regarding vertical work courses, interest- ed people will be informed on details like the content, based on the new Manual of Techniques in Vertical Works, edited by Anetva, duration, type of credentials that are issued, calendar and information about the schools currently accredited by the association to provide training in tech- niques for vertical work. In addition, the stand will offer compre- hensive information on the process of join- ing the association as well as on courses and requirements for the registration process, providing the appropriate forms, and other significant information to the activity of vertical works. 25
