15 EXHFEIBRIITAIOSNS TECHTEXTIL The 13th edition of Techtextil ends with record-setting numbers for exhibitors and visitors For the first time ever this tradeshow with an interna- tional leadership vocation, powerfully represented the sector of technical and non-woven fabrics. Techtextil, planned by Messe Frankfurt, was described by Detlef Braun, one of the managers, as “the right way for companies that, in these times of uncertainty, wish to set new goals with innovative products and applica- tion fields. The tradeshow empowered their initiati- ves”. Mr. Braun explained the number of exhibitors grew by 8%, and that of professional visitors, by 2%. With 1,201 companies from 43 countries showca- sing their products, the tradeshow held from June 16th to 18th already pre-announced its success as it opened. Frankfurt welcomed 23,300 visitors to the tradeshow. “Professionals visiting us revealed great interest and we were pleased to see Techtextil grow as an indispensable meeting point, for all those who wish to show and learn about textile innovations for industry, research, medicine, environmental sciences and various other sectors”, Mr. Braun added. Both visitors and exhibitors perceived this event as a hub for business, and results were described as very positive. Over 80% of all exhibitors stated they were very pleased at having attained the goals they had set themselves for this tradeshow. With some 900 attendants, the conferences schedu- led also proved highly successful. IN addition to the two major seminars already established as highlights: Techtextil symposium and Avantex symposium, at the Congress Center of Messe Frankfurt, the German tra- deshow presented a perspective that, in terms of trends and developments, focuses on the global futu- re. During the Techtextil symposium, Professor Hein- rich Planck, a scholar in the Textile Technology and Chemical Processes Institute at Denkendorf, presen- ted the Medtech theme: New Textile Products in Medicine. The Techtextile Innovation Award and two Avantex Innovation Awards were granted, during a solemn ceremony, to winners from Germany and Belgium. The next edition of Techtextile Frankfurt/Maine will be held from May 24th to 26th, 2011. For the first time, the edition will feature Texprocess as a complemen- tary event, an internationally leading tradeshow for treatment of textiles and flexible materials (from May 24th to 27th). The International Monographic Show and Conference for Materials for the development of Products, Design and Architecture will once again be held simultaneously with Techtextil.
