New forestry backpack for water or foam The company located in Santo Domingo de la Calzada (La Rioja) also developed a new forestry back- pack that is more functional and ergonomic, designed for use during fire extinguishing interventions dur- ing direct attack against fires or for post-extinguishing operations. Made from canvas fabric reinforced with synthetic material, to keep users dry when filling it in streams or water tanks. All materials will resist hard waters, salt water and detergents, and will be unaffect- ed when exposed to the elements. The ergonomic design distributes weight evenly, to avoid injuries to the back of users when carrying the backpack. The tank will carry 17 litres and is made from thermo-sealed, flexible, shock-resistant, reinforced canvas. The filling opening is 100 mm in size, with a screw-on cap that closes tight to prevent loss of water during transportation and is attached to the back- pack so that users will never lose it when filling the tank. The nozzle is fed by means of a semi-rigid, 8mm-diameter hose especially designed not to strangle or collapse. With watertight connections that are easy to assemble and replace. The connections to the nozzle will resist shock, and also serve to prevent hose strangling. Padded shoulder straps. As an option, the tank of the backpack may also be filled with foam by replacing the nozzle with a PM-ZL Ø 25 mm dispenser and con- stant-flow nozzle. The dispenser is avail- able with four exchangeable nozzles, set at 0.4%, 1%, 3% and 6%. Estimated range with 0.4% nozzle at a pressure of 5 bar is 5 minutes per litre of foam.
