FY64 - FuturEnergy

Similarly, when the microturbines are operating in thermal mode (adapting their load to the needs of the spray-dryer), the fan is responsible for introducing all the gases into the spraydryer, avoiding losses via the vent. Should gas demand exceed microturbine production, the fan itself can regulate the entry of air via the same exhaust vent or, alternately, the spray-dryer can intake air via its inlet nozzle. The gases travel through this centrifugal fan to the spray-dryer inlet, located some 50 metres from the microturbines genset. The duct system comprises a total of 90 metres of collectors (with diameters between 760 and 1,625 mm) plus some 110 metres of individual ducts from the microturbines outlet (400 mm in diameter). Finally, the spray-dryer inlet is equipped with a regulation and gas insulation valve (with sealing air), which is regulated by the spray-dryer by means of the auxiliary equipment control system. This valve is responsible for regulating the flow of gases entering the spray-dryer when the microturbines are operating depending on the electrical load of the factory. Control equipment The main equipment (microturbines and spray-dryer) have their own control system. The installation is also equipped with an auxiliary equipment control system, responsible for the overall operation of the microturbines and spray-dryer and for controlling the new fan and gas valve. This auxiliary control system, supplied by the Spanish company SIGE, ensures the correct operation of the system as the whole and allows switching between the different operating modes, communicating and exchanging signals with the microturbine and spray-dryer control systems.
