By contrast, on the windows to the right, the awning is raised given there is no impact from the sun and no need to activate the shade. This simple management system can control the 3 or 4 awnings per classroom with one single remote, adjusted depending on the needs of each moment, the light conditions and the temperature. The automatic solar control with the external vertical awning is positioned beneath the lintel, whose box measures just 13x13 cm. Such small dimensions mean that it can be installed within the lintel of the existing façade with no need for works. The external solution moreover allows the windows to be opened, ventilating the classrooms with no need to adjust the position of the awning. This simple awning lowering solution that blocks out solar radiation while allowing air to enter has a high value as it involves no energy expenditure and avoids the accumulation of CO and PPM in the classrooms. It is worth nothing that the new building, inaugurated in 2015, incorporates external automatic solar control solutions, demonstrating how the solution can be installed in both new buildings and refurbishments. In short, with an external automatic solar control solution, it is possible to optimise natural light and the interior temperature by means of a very simple system that can be managed either by the maintenance team, for the building as a whole, or by the staff in any classroom. The dynamic façade solution improves the traditional façade by incorporating an automatic solar control that enhances thermal control, controlling light levels and natural ventilation. Thermal control Impact. Solar radiation enters through the façade creating a greenhouse effect.Without an automatic solar control on the glass of the façade, the temperature rises to above 30ºC inside the classrooms or offices. This effect leads to high HVAC consumption (particularly air conditioning and cooling) and energy consumption peaks lasting 5 to 6 hours a day during which the façade is exposed to solar radiation. According to the RITE (regulations for thermal installations in buildings), schools must keep temperatures between 21ºC in winter and 26ºC in summer. Solution. Automatic solar control by means of a vertical roller awning stops solar radiation penetrating the interior of the school. The heat stays out of the building preventing the interior of the classrooms or offices from heating up. The system is also flexible and can be controlled as a whole (from the maintenance room) or locally by the teaching staff who can decide when to raise or lower the solar protection in special conditions. Light control Impact. The high impact of solar radiation makes working at computers or using other equipment uncomfortable, in Figura 4: Fachada Sudoeste. Exterior y Vista interior.
