50|REPORTAJE “Today, fourteen years after the first edition, Eme3 has be- come a forum and facilitator for interaction, and an inter- change for proposals, that in a retrospective sense, can be fully defined as avant-garde architecture.” veloping successful public spaces in complex urban contexts. By introducing new uses to public spaces, a strong connection develops with the public and the inhabitants of the space. The photographic project “Instant Village” (Romania) by Simona Rota shows the meaninglessness often seen in terri- torial planning, when improvisation can sometimes create situations of precarious planning. Impossible Living (Italy) will present its project of urban reactivations, that through crowdsour- cing, enables the citizens to participate and present, through the website and on-site, their ideas of new uses for abandoned buildings. From Spain, other projects will be presented in this section. “Spanish Dream” by the Cadelasverdes team, is a project that proposes a criti- cal reflection on the economic crisis and its consequences, focusing on how the housing bubble and banking speculation entailed a country full of unfinished works. “Spanish Dream” approaches the problem from an emo- tional standpoint, recreating familiar scenes in unfinished spaces. Another is “Esonoesunsolar” (Thisisnotaplot) study by Gravalosdimonte, which aims to create new contemporary spaces in vacant lots, but count on the needs demanded by associations and neigh- bours, and by responding to specific problems. Eme3 will also host some interven- tions such as Kopf Kino by ON / OFF (Germany), which through a designed object, in this case, a shopping cart with a projector that moves through the city. Invites curious passers-by to start to see the power of the object and spontaneously interact with it. About Eme3 When Eme3 was established in 1999, its objective was to respond to the need of finding a space for architects, urban designers and artists from different disciplines, where they could meet and present innovative and unconventional projects that went beyond common trends in urban plan- ning and construction.
