16|REPORTAJE While the Fiera di Rho hosted I Saloni 2013, from 9 to 14 April, the city of Milan introdu- ced an attractive range of events related to design, the perfect complement for events such as the Salone Internazionale del Mobile or Euroluce. One more year Fuorisalone transformed Milan into a swarm of people going from one end to another of the city to know the latest trends in design and interior design. No matter the weather condi- tions –it rained- and it was cold: firms, designers and design students worldwi- de took the momentum of the fairs to showcase their innovations and present their particular views on art, design and interior design. The Brera district, Ventura Lambra- te and Tortona area of Milan are some sites in Milan that welcomed Fuorisalone different spaces. Aristocratic palaces, shops, workshops and warehouses were transformed for a few days to accommo- date a large number of audiences from various countries worldwide. Among the exhibitors, this year had special relevan- ce the designers from Sweden. The beginnings of Ventura Lambrate Ventura Lambrate area has a long his- tory and is known for its old factories, such as the one of Lambretta scooters or the coffee machines, Faema. In 2009, the design studio Organisation in Design opted for this area of Milan to expand Fuorisalone and create a new space dedicated to contemporary design. The abandoned workshops and factories of the industrial district were the perfect place to house the exhibitions of young designers. Thus, since 2010, Ventura Lambrate is a key event of the Milan Design Week. That year they received 30,000 visitors. In 2011 the figures doubled. In 2012 the number of exhibitors grew back. In this fourth edition, that of 2013, partici- pated 135 exhibitors from 30 countries and the number of visitors has increa- sed up to 80,000. Figures of this size have not gone unnoticed to the firms participating in the International Lighting Fair, Eurolu- ce. Some of them have also decided to show their products and philosophy at Fuorisalone. The house of light Catellani & Smith firm reopened this Fuorisalone their showroom or exhibition space located in Ventura Lambrate. La Casa della Luce has been conceived as a meeting point for architects and lighting designers as well as being a space dedi- cated to research and experimentation.
