As usual for the last three years, The Disctrict de las Letras de Huertas last September dressed of light and design thanks to the fair DECORACCION 2012. Luz & Ambiente Consulting had the pleasure of participa- ting illuminating the garbage Canton space in the 15, Costanilla de los Desamparados street. As usual for the last three years, The Disctrict de las Letras de Huertas last September dressed of light and design thanks to the fair DECORACCION 2012. Luz & Ambiente Consulting had the pleasure of partici- pating illuminating the garbage Canton space in the 15, Costanilla de los Desam- parados street. The project is inspired by the elements that surround the sweepers: water, leaves, papers, and packaging swirling by the wind and illuminated by us to create this space of recycled beauty. We find a blackened and dingy space but full of history and movement. Swee- pers themselves were who inspired us for the installation. We decided that the sweeper and his world should be the focus of the project, creating an allegory of their daily routine. We used the light to draw the abstract, making “visible” the conceptual. We wanted to talk about what is really trash, or even better, that it told us what it had been before, what stories it had lived, what it had seen, where it came from and above all, what could it become. To represent this concept, we based on a poem by the known Chilean Jorge Calvetti. I take out the trash to the street wrapped with paper and care. There remain the mixed scraps of life time peels and cuts of the soul. I leave them on the sidewalk with a vivir, o se creyó existente. Because they are remains of fruit, food, and literature with which one played to live, or thought to be existing. And also because, perhaps without us knowing, someone has wrapped us with sky papers with clouds of care and we are at the edge of the universe and no one say goodbye. I take out the trash, put it on the sidewalk, and say goodbye. Jorge Calvetti. The corner became a place of dreams, a wonderland of wastes where the surpri- sed visitor enjoyed the magic of light. The wastes shared with us the stories they lived when we thought they were useful and we found out that they had never ceased to be.
