La Pizzeria La Nonna, in Balaguer, Lleida, is a fun and contemporary space that spins around the figure of the Prima Nonna or, what is the same, the first woman or grandmother. Intertech, Arquitectura de Inte- riores, recreated the atmosphere of what could be the home of the grandmother, but without falling into the clichés of a thematic setting. Lighting plays an important role. As he explained to iCande- la, Javier Suarez, interior designer and project ma- nager at Intertech, “in the course of the decorating project for Prima Nonna it was taken into account that we didn’t want a to- tally retro local. But we had to get an eclectic local, combining the traditional flavor of an Italian home with totally cutting edge materials and techniques. One of the most important points to achieve this result was definitely the lighting, designed to create different environments. “ First, to set the different environ- ments, industrial enhancers were installed with a mission to reduce or increase the lighting depending on the time of day or type of celebration. The main focus of the lighting is based on a series of individual built-in halogen QR type, which explore the local illuminating the diners’ areas. Complementing these QR, and with the ceiling at different levels, they have installed lighting systems by linestras* fluorescent tubes of warm spectrum. These create a constant ze- nithal light regardless of the manipula- tion of the enhancers, creating a very intimate and friendly brightness.
