44|PROTAGONISTA In the video interview we did a few months ago, you said that light is a structu- ral element of the space, why? In essence the light, and its manifes- tation the lighting, are the elements- substance that allows us to perceive the existential reality that contains us. The light is not an accessory of the form or a function of the space and less serves to illuminate things, tell stories or say what’s good or bad. For most, it is the element that allows things and space to manifest and unfold them. In this sense, its function is es- sentially structural in the manifestation of texture, color, shape, size, speed, direction and other variables and per- ceptive parameters of space. Additionally it expresses the visual field, incorporates in its synergy; smell, touch, taste, sound as variables within the limitations of our senses. Is this direction, the light is the structu- ral element of the space. Quoting the architect Alberto Cam- pos Baeza, you also said that “the light is like salt,” What is the right measure or when is it excessive? I admire the architectural work of Alber- to Campos Baeza. Reading it discovered the relationship between salt and light. Honestly I received a strong impact in recognizing that light exists before life and it is the source of it. Salt is the oldest condiment used by mankind and its importance to life is such that has marked the development of History.
