The project Lighting Architecture Beirut, from the prestigious study Light Cibles has been recognized with an IALD Award of Excellence 2012. In the number two iCandela published an article “Features” dedica- ted to this project. Now reproduce the statements of one of its leaders, Emmanuel Clair, after receiving the prestigious award. T his award has been a great honor for us. It is the result of two years of great effort and we are pleased with the outcome. Recognition as important as this shows that also others value it, which makes us very proud. This project was a dream of my father, Louis Clair, for thirty years. The technology at that time did not allow him to do it. But today we were able to make it happen. The conceptual proposal is the same as it raised many years ago, but the techno- logy, technique and quality of materials has changed a lot. The challenge was to convert a technique commonly used for events, in a permanent architectural lighting. It was needed to improve the de- vices used so far in projection, fittings that were used to short distances projections (6 to 9 meters) and in this case we had to project up to 80 meters away and often projecting in angle which also meant the correction of the image deformation. Add to that, the definition of the projected image also had to be much higher, since the idea was to enhance the architectural elements in its full detail. It meant a lot of hard work! “ ,said Emmanuel Clair.
