42|REPORTAJE have been able to see in situ, the novelties presented by the more than 2.589 exhibitors distributed in manufacturers of technical lighting, decorative lighting, illumination of urban spaces; manufacturers of components and distributors. I would like to highlight the large amount of novelties, in the field of architectural lighting, that were shown. They were created to be incorporated to space and illuminate it correctly, improving its appearance and the well-being of the users. I was fascinated by the constant and untiring investigation carried out to create products to solve very specific problems, such as how to illuminate a picture to avoid undermining it, or how to sustain the same level of illumination in the entire surface of a store with a few light points. There were also products to vary their performance: beam of light, color temperature, etc., offering multiple solutions. Something that caught my attention was the multitude of simple ideas, in the decorative field, to create specific aesthetic effects. Aside from the novelties, the classic icons were there too; versatile and fresh they never go out of style. The affluence of visitors was sparse in the exhibition halls showing the more classical or conventional decorative lighting. I believe the future is in choosing between quality of light and the aesthetics of form and effect. The luminaries of conventional functioning are being left behind by the new technologies.
