The lighting of each apartment combines a general intimate light with spotlights that bring out the texture of the materials and the furniture By night, the sculptural drop lamp, designed by Antonio Salinas end executed by Basileus, illuminates the beam structure and shines an all- enveloping light in one of the areas of the restaurant. In the other area, the Laser Blake spot lights by iGuzzini, manufactured specifically with a determined opening degree, are angled towards the furniture to emphasize its texture and color and to soften the space and make it more intimate for the guests present. The perimeter bar area and the reception of the hotel, were illuminated using elements from Modular Lighting, which follow the shape of the furniture, forming a circular lamp. When you exit this space looking for the individual apartments, the play of light and shadow continues in the rows of LED light that direct you, on a path, to the bedroom doors signaled with large numbers. Once inside, each apartment has a rest area, a kitchen and a living room with furniture designed by the interior designers. In it, the arrangement and design of the formal objects enact a continued dialogue with the exterior, thus preserving the Hotel’s philosophy of using the Central Market as a point of union, to benefit from its architectural interest as well as to bring the pleasure of its products to the guests. For the illumination of these vacation homes a system, that creates different effects in various phases, was designed. First, there is a general intimate light accomplished with LEDs placed in the darks of plaster and in the furniture. This system uses an indirect light and while in some rooms it bathes the walls, in others it marks transits and directions. Secondly and over the catalogue of Artemide, a more concentrated light has been placed using hanging lamps that illuminate the surface of the tables and bring out the texture of the materials. In the headboards, and as an element for reading, the model Skopos, from the same brand, was used. Finally, for the illumination of the building, a general bathing was favored, reinforcing the door jamb with the TRICK 360o by iGuzzini, as a passing call, in this way enhancing the architectural elements of the facade. In all the rooms of the hotel, the studios carefully selected materials and furniture among national brands such as Porcelanosa, Viccarbe, Sancal and Expormin and others such as Vitra, Desirée, Varaschin and SMA. For the study of lighting they had the supervision of “Iluminacion Ambiente” and brands such as iGuzzini, Artemide, Modular Lighting Instruments and Basileus. As a conclusion, thanks to the collaboration and hard work of both architecture studios, the project evolved into a hotel that offers its guests elegance, style, visual harmony and comfort during their stay. And all accomplished, in a simple but regal manner by combining all the formal elements: furniture, lighting, art and contemporary design. ■
