10|APUNTES process is enabled in an attempt to investigate color harmonies and analogies as well as complementary, simultaneous and sequential color contrasts and chromatic afterimages. Visual constancy is challenged. There are two points of investigation, a far one, from where the viewer can observe the luminous arrangements on the entire piece and a near one where she or he is adapted to the reflected light of each section of the triptych. Q: What is the light influence in the colour creation? Like if you have to explain it to a children or a people that do not have science knowledge. A: One doesn’t need to have any science knowledge to understand that the color of an object is changing in different lighting conditions. Take for example a parked car on the street – throughout the day its color is actually subtly changing depending on daylight conditions. At night when orange streetlighting is on (older streetlighting installations that one can still find in almost every city) its color appearance is completely different. However our brain has the capacity to keep the color of a familiar object constant even if in reality it changes. Q: Do you thing people have conscience about the importance of the light in the color creation? A: Most of us know its importance in theory but we tend to forget it in everyday life. Q: Which has been the public impression with your project? A: A lot of the viewers found the piece interesting and spent time in fornt of it but we kindly prefer not to answer a question on behalf of other people. Q: What kind of sensations can feel people while they are in front of Color Wheels? A: Color is a perception that is formed in our brain through past experience and visual information. Semantics of color explore the means by which languages communicate the visual impression in a historical and cultural context. Our approach is the opposite. Color Wheels aim to deliver live points of perceptual exploration to each observer. Having said that it would be more interesting to ask an observer of the piece this question instead of us. Q: What materials did you use in the design of the Color Wheels? As well, the ligthing lamps used. A: Metal sheets, RGB Led strips and electronic control gear. All materials were provided by Targetti Sankey Spa and the entire piece was constructed at the their factory in Florence, Italy. Q: Which are the applications of these lighting objects? Like an art exhibition, decorative uses, domestic or retail... A: Color Wheels engages senses. It uses quite ordinary materials and technology, but assembled into a delicate light art piece. As such, like any other light art creation it coexists with its surrounding. Correct placement and connection with the space is essential to achieve unique experience of color and light. ■
