8|APUNTES The cluster of lighting companies is 5 years old Based in Barcelona, the Lighting Cluster, CICAT, includes companies from the lighting sector of Spain. Its primary function is to communicate the different technologies and applications of light, thus providing opportunity for the companies to develop, promote and internationalize their products. It has recently reached 5 years of life in which they have undertaken various initiatives and activities to pTromote the culture of light. he Lighting Cluster CICAT, was born with the goal of promoting the culture of light, encourage networking between the manufacturing companies of the field and the actors of the industry such as architects, lighting designers, contractors, installers and interior designers, with the idea of improving competitiveness in the Spanish companies of the field. The founding companies and entities of the Lighting Cluster CICAT are Vibia, Alma Light, Luxiona, Rovasi, Carandini, Vossloh-Schwabe, IREC (Institut de Recerca en Energía de Catalunya), CVD (Catalana de Vidrio Decorado) and Lamp Lighting. They all promoted the launching of Barcelona Light Center, a registered entity that brings together all the initiatives related to the lighting area, and has the support of the “Ayuntamiento de Barcelona” (Town Hall of Barcelona) Networking and culture of light. To be a member of the Cluster, the main requisite is to be a natural or legal person involved in the lighting sector, which is to say that it designs, manufactures or recommends lighting systems and their components or provides specialized technical services in the industry of light technology. Among their collaborators we find public entities, institutions, associations, technology centers and universities, interested in the promotion and development of the association. In short, the Lighting Cluster CICAT includes all the companies, collectives and people that show interest in the values it encourages such as the promotion of the culture of light. For this purpose, the Lighting Cluster CICAT, has organized and continues to organize activities in various professional sectors of society because light is present in every human activity.
