68|APUNTES T he hospitality world has been rapidly developing in the recent years. The customer no longer chooses a restaurant based on the quality of the food. Now, we look to be surprised and to be immersed in an experience that appeals to all of the senses. Taste is engaged with the different flavors, while the culinary subtleties are captured by smell. Sounds take you to different atmospheres; touch captures the surroundings and the textures of the food. Sight wanders through the architecture, which is discovered and enhanced by lighting. In Luz&Ambiente Consulting, hospitality lighting experts, we believe that there are three keys to creating the perfect space for a culinary environment: Singlurity: each project is unique with a distinctive feature that will make the difference. The details stay with the client and are forever remembered. Customization and versatility: the space must be dynamic, as to adapt to different needs at different times. Depending on the season or time of day, a certain type of light is required. A cooler light at a business lunch facilitates conversation and the exchange of ideas, whereas a warmer spot light at night would encourage an emotional and intimate encounter. Therefore, it is important that a lighting control system for different circumstances is included in the design to create the perfect atmosphere. Environmentally friendly: a good design takes energy-saving measures. Pragmatism in using electrical appliances with lower energy consumptions is not only eco-friendly, but also reduces the costs along the lifetime of the place. The latest technologies in the lighting world allow us to considerably reduce the consumption with LED lighting. It is also important to bring light only where it is needed; every little detail plays an important role in creating a unique experience for the customer. This is the case of the new StreetXO, that opened under huge customers expectations this December 2014, on the seventh floor of the El Corte Inglés , in the district of Serrano, Madrid. The explosive aesthetic of StreetXO is composed by the the fusion of the creativity of its interior designer, Lázaro Rosa Violán, and the personality of its chef, David Muñoz, who has 3 Michelin Stars and an innovative perspective on gastronomy. The result of this mixture is an urban space, inspired by the oriental aesthetic, bursting with grand and stimulating visual elements. The lighting performance, developed by Luz & Ambiente Consulting, was crucial for this project. The bar, walls, benches and some other elements were treated with a very warm light never higher than 2200K, while the show-cooking kitchen and the top of the bar were reinforced with small projectors to guaranty its presence. The projectors have an open optic of 60o and were placed close to one another to create a sensation of homogeneous light
